As insurance regulations can vary by state, the NAIC works with states and regions to coordinate those efforts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few duties of an insurance commissioner would include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Providing insurance related educational resources (websites, pamphlets, etc.) to the consumers in their state.<\/li><li>Answer consumer and media questions about insurance products and policies in their state.<\/li><li>Dealing with consumer complaints about the insurance industry.<\/li><li>Regulating insurance companies, approving rate increases.<\/li><li>Ensure that all insurers in the state are following the laws regarding insurance.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The NAIC assists commissioners by providing resources, research, and guidance on all issues related to insurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is a NAIC code?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most insurance cards have a NAIC code on them which consumers will use when filing a claim with your insurance company or a report with the local DMV. The NAIC code is unique to each insurance company, making them easy to identify.
