Depending on what type of project you are tackling, your premium could be headed up, stay the same or in some cases go down.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s have a look at how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gethomeinsurancequotes.com\">homeowners insurance<\/a> can be impacted by renovations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Does my homeowners insurance policy cover renovations?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While your homeowners insurance will protect your renovations with coverage once they are done, homeowners insurance does not pay for the cost of the renovations. Even if you don&#8217;t expand the size of your home, the increased foot traffic to your home office can be a liability risk resulting in a higher premium.<\/li><li><strong>Putting on an addition:<\/strong>&nbsp;If you are adding square footage to your home, you will be paying a higher premium. Your insurance company is on the hook for rebuilding your home if it is damaged or destroyed and increased square footage will increase your rebuilding cost.<\/li><li><strong>Kitchen renovation:<\/strong>&nbsp;A serious kitchen renovation can involve new appliances, cabinets, flooring, as well as other upgrades.
